Junior Football

Geelong Amateurs Junior Football

For many years Geelong Amateur Football Club has given young footballers their first opportunity to play football in a team and club environment.

Our Junior Football Program starts at the Under-9s level and progresses through to Under-17s. The emphasis is on giving young players the best environment possible – not only to enjoy their football but also to develop their skills and appreciate the value team-work. We have high standards when it comes to selecting and appointing coaching staff for our junior team’s, and we ensure that all our coaches are fully accredited and hold current ‘Working with Children’ criteria.

Our Junior football program has grown steadily over the past few years and we are currently fielding 21 junior teams in local competitions. Children enjoy the great experience of playing home matches at at Queens Park as well as traveling for away matches against other teams in our region.

Josh Logan heads up our Junior Football program, taking on the role of Junior Committee Chairperson. Josh has a great team of volunteer parents behind him and together they are devoted to ensuring all young players achieve maximum enjoyment throughout their junior careers.

The club supplies football jumpers in team colours to all players, and club socks are part of the membership package. Extra socks are available to purchase via this website. Players must provide their own shorts, boots and drink bottles.

Training is held on the following evenings, with games held on Friday nights, Saturday mornings and Sunday.

MONDAY: Under-9s and Under-10s
TUESDAY: Under-15s and Under-17s
WEDNESDAY: Under-11s and Under-13s
THURSDAY: Under-15s and Under-17s

Thursday night is ‘Ammos Family Night’ at the club, with meals available in the Clubrooms for parents and players from 5:30pm onwards. Here Junior and Senior players and their families have the opportunity to meet and socialise together, along with other members of the club. We will also be trialling Wednesday night dinners from the start of the season, aimed for junior families. If successful, these nights will continue to run throughout the entire season.
