Club History
The club was formed in 1926 as a result of teachers and students from The Geelong College and The Geelong Grammar forming a football team to play in Victorian Amateur Football Association. Hence the green (College)and light blue (Grammar) colors and the Pegasus Logo of the club.
From it's humble 1926 beginnings at Corio Oval the club moved to it's current home today at Queens Park in 1957. And the old weatherboard rooms that are long gone , housed The Ammos and The QP Golf Club.
The club played predominantly in A & B Grade from 1926 through to 1982 in the V.A.F.A. With a five year break for WWII. Senior Premierships came in 1931 , 1953 , 1966 , 1972 , 1985.
The clubs only ever Reserves Premiership came in C Grade in 1980.
The V.A.F.A were great days as traditionally trips to Melbourne became fortnightly "footy trips". Many legends were "borne" on the old Melbourne Road.
And then in the late 70's early 80's , into "The Ammo Disco" the players would pour as Ian Cover was the house "D.J" pumping out The Doors and K.C & The Sunshine Band!!
Amid much controvesy in 1983 , the club opted to play in the local Geelong & District Football League. Times had changed and players no longer could afford the time to travel and play in Melbourne.
Success came in 1985 when the club won the Div 1 G & D.F.L Premiership and went into the G.F.L. Unfortunately in 1988 the club could no longer sustain the level required and slipped back to the G & D.F.L.
In 1995 , after much soul searching and survival meetings , the club surged into the Bellarine Football League and is now the dominant club.
The club harbours deep desires to again reach the G.F.L with a view to becoming premanent. Only one thing really stands in the way now and only the current senior team can achieve that goal.
