The Geelong Amateur Football Club has for many years given young footballers their first opportunity to play football in a team and club environment.
Our Junior Football Program includes U12 up to and including U16, with an emphasis on giving our young players the best environment possible for them to not only have some fun but to also develop some football skills and learn the value in being a part of a team. We have high standards when it comes to selecting and appointing our coaching staff and ensure that all our members are fully trained and accredited coaches that have obtained current ‘Working with Children’ criteria.
The Club’s Junior football representation has grown steadily over the past few years and we are currently fielding sixteen junior teams in the local competitions ranging from our U9 teams through to our U16 squads. Children enjoy the great experience of not only playing at home at Queens Park but also traveling to and playing other sides in our region. This year Gavin Dowling will head up our Junior Football program, taking on the role of Chairman of our Junior Committee. Gavin has behind him a great team of volunteer parents to assist him and is devoted to ensuring all young players get maximum enjoyment out of being involved with The Geelong Amateur Football Club Junior Program.
The club supplies football jumpers in team colours to all club players and Club socks are part of the membership package. Extra socks are available through the website. Players must provide their own shorts, boots and drink bottles. Shorts are available in Geelong Amateur team colours from DeGrandi Cycle and Sports.
Training is held on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30pm with games held on Saturday and Sunday from 8:15am.
Wednesday night is our ‘Juniors night’ at the club with meals available in our clubrooms for parents and players alike from 5:30pm onwards. This gives parents and children the opportunity to meet and socialise with other members of the club.
All enquiries relating to the Geelong Junior Football League should be directed to Gavin Dowling on 0419 592 876 or addressed through our contact form.
OPERATIONAL INCOME & EXPENSES
The attached matrix is available to understand some of the costs involved in the day to day operations of running the club.
As can be seen there are many facets to the operations and most of the people involved are volunteers.
The Ammos takes great care and pride in the value it provides for its members and always welcomes feedback where improvements can be made.
How do I determine what age group my child is in?
Your child’s age is taken as at midnight 31st December 2017 e.g. If your child is still 9 years old at this point of time then he will be placed in the U10 grouping for season 2017.
