The Ammotiser – Round 1 2016 (Junior Football)

Welcome to all Players and Parents

Dear Ammos Players and Parents, welcome to the 2016 football season at GAF&NC. We hope you have had a relaxing summer break and you are ready for the season ahead. The Club would like to welcome past, present and new players to join us for the 2016 season. Please invite friends and encourage any past players to come down and enjoy playing football for our club this season. We are excited about the season ahead and the quality football experience that you will receive playing for the Ammos.

Both the Junior and Senior committees have been busy in the off-season to make sure we provide you with a great club to be Involved in, and importantly we continue to enhance your football development and enjoyment. As a club we are well planned for the season ahead with our coaching line-up, and our fantastic senior players ready to help out and assist in our Junior football program. The club is continuing to develop and deliver quality coaching programs to foster the enjoyment and development of each child’s football ability.

We have some exciting initiatives planned and we look forward to delivering these throughout the season. Please find below some information regarding the season ahead –

2016 U14 & U16 Coaches: This season we have the following coaching structure in place to support your child’s foot- ball development: U16 Coach – Jason Nelson and Ross Fagan (Senior GAF&NC player); U14 Coaches – Andrew Rich- ardson & Geoff Williams, plus Jacob Sharp (Senior GAF&NC player). Complimenting these coaches we have our new Junior Coaching Director James Welsh, who will be providing valuable leadership and support to our Club’s Junior football program.

U16 Players: we would like to invite the U16 players to join our U18 playing group, who have begun pre-season train- ing this week on a Monday and Wednesday at Queens Park on the top oval. Training begins at 5:45pm and is under the guidance of James Welsh and Chris Taylor. Please come down and join in with the U18 pre-season program in preparation for your age level training beginning later in February.

Girl’s football: One of the Club initiatives is the continued promotion and development of Girl’s football within our club. Last year was a successful trial with girls football in our club. With the support of Newtown F&NC we had over 24 girls play in the inaugural Junior Girls competition. This year we are again promoting Girl’s football together with Newtown F&NC, where the girls will be playing in the AFL Barwon Junior Girls U13 competition. Further, our club will be conducting a Girls only Auskick program on Tuesday nights to promote this great game to the next genera- tion of female footballers.

Term 1 school holiday ‘Academy camp’: the U12, U14, U16 and Junior Girls are invited to join us at a two-day Acad- emy camp on the 5th & 6th April to prepare for the season ahead, and continue to enhance each player’s football de- velopment. We have our kicking coaches joining us, along with our quality senior players delivering sessions aimed at improving skill and game-understanding. This will be a great skill development and learning opportunity for all involved.

U12 players: Our U12 footballers are invited to train with the U14 age group this season to assist and promote their continued football development. Some of these players will play some U14 games throughout the season, which will provide them with some valuable developmental opportunities.

Geelong College & Geelong Grammar players: Our club has a proud heritage, and a long and healthy relationship with The Geelong College and Geelong Grammar schools. It is our intention to continue to provide the College and Grammar players with a local club that supports their football development and enjoyment from playing community football. We encourage these players to join us this season at the U14 and U16 age levels, where we will work closely with their school commitments providing ‘game time’ at the club level that will not burden these players but look to enhance their football development by taking in to consideration their previous day’s game.

The coaches and the club are looking forward to your involvement in season 2016. Please contact myself (0407 851 909) or your age group coach (email address above) with any queries or concerns that you may have. Thank you in anticipation of a great 2016 season at the Ammos, and we look forward to seeing you in the near future.

Regards,
Richo
